Cathy Walker is a Registered Psychologist. With over 25 years experience, she is ready to help you take your next steps to greater health, well-being & emotional integrity.
Rather than offering a generalist one-approach-fits-all psychological service, Cathy has taken advanced training in specific areas such as personal growth, emotion processing and trauma recovery. This means that you are assured of treatment utilising specialised skills and knowledge for specific problem areas, rather than a general one-treatment-style-fits-all-approach.
Cathy feels that identifying and releasing the underlying causes for our symptoms, is more useful than learning to just manage such symptoms. A lot of psychological health-related research on treatment effectiveness, measures success via the (temporary) reduction or elimination of symptoms, without ever addressing the causal factors that gave rise to those symptoms in the first place. This can result in 'symptom replacement', rather than truly resolving the problem. In many cases, Cathy sees the causation of our suffering coming from childhood experiences, identifying with negative beliefs and the chronic suppression of emotion. Learning to understand ourselves at the level of causation (childhood conditioning) rather than effect (anxiety), allows us to find true freedom in the present.
Cathy has extensive skills and experience in Cognitive-Behaviour and Mindfulness-based therapies; energy psychology (EFT/IYS); transpersonal psychology; meditation; and energy-based trauma therapy.
At Mind Body Spirit Psychology, traditional, transpersonal, and energy psychology inform each other- combining the wonders of neuroscience with the ancient healing power of Love and a personal connection to something greater than ourselves.
